BLC is a resource for people in King County (Washington State) to get help with Social Security benefits. BLC maintains two projects that are narrowly tailored to meet the needs of our community and ensure that those with disabilities get the help that they need. BLC wants to ensure that people with disabilities who are homeless or low income do not fall through the cracks.
BLC’s values are reflected in reliable client-centered advocacy, commitment to the dignity and humanity of every client, and an ongoing dedication to remain accessible, inclusive, and collaborative. BLC provides high-quality legal representation and advocacy to people with disabilities who are below 200% of the federal poverty level and lower. The federal poverty guidelines are published yearly by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
BLC is part of the Alliance for Equal Justice. The Alliance is a well-knit collaboration of civil legal aid organizations. This collaboration allows us to take a holistic approach to assisting each client, and through engagement with its partners, BLC provides clients help with legal problems that are beyond its own practice area.
