Over the past 14 months, a group of volunteers and staff has been working to change our name so that it better reflects our mission. I’m happy to share our new name, Benefits Law Center. Staff started the process by engaging in brainstorming sessions to focus in on words that describe our work and our values. Our pro bono design team generated dozens of options for the board and staff to consider and test. We narrowed the list down and began reaching out to our community. We engaged with approximately fifty stakeholders including clients, donors, grantors, and community partners. Collectively, this group informed our decision, and together we arrived at Benefits Law Center. It is simply a more descriptive name. You’ll notice that we held onto our value of including community by incorporating the silhouettes of the folks we serve right in our logo. Our clients still drive every decision we make.
Services available at Benefits Law Center have not changed. We are delivering client-centered Social Security advocacy with a holistic approach to ensuring that they gain access to community partners to help with all of their basic needs. Our services are built to help clients engage and reach their goals. It is very exciting to have such a positive reaction to our decision to improve our messaging. Thank you for your help with navigating this change, and for your enthusiasm for our mission.
Sincerely,
Alex KF Doolittle
