Celebrate with us! At BLC, we are commemorating 25 years of delivering equitable legal services to thousands of low-income people across King County who are living with mental and physical disabilities, and experiencing homelessness, so they can overcome barriers to financial and medical stability.
Over the past two and half decades, we have grown to support countless people in poverty across King County. For instance, in 2011, BLC supported 800 people living with disabilities, and in 2021 we will serve more than 1,100 such individuals. Ten years ago, our advocacy was driven by just two attorneys and one paralegal. Today, BLC employs five attorneys and two paralegals to ensure the due process rights of our 265 active clients. 2019 was a particularly memorable year, as our Justice Bus hit the streets to expand our reach to clients across King County. In 2021, we hired a new Director of Development, and we are currently operating a budget of $1.6M with support from donors and grant funders. That represents over 400% growth of programs and budget since 2014.
