This past year, your support has gifted Danica with economic stability and brightened her future! Experiencing chronic kidney failure and often unable to work due to dialysis treatments and a transplant, Danica (age 35) had been denied $1,780 in monthly Social Security benefits for a year, and was also wrongly informed by Social Security that she needed to pay back $123,000. Danica turned to BLC for help.
Danica’s BLC attorney quickly started building her appeal to Social Security. In March, Danica received justice – she was freed from the $123,000 overpayment, and was found eligible for $3,000 in back pay. No one in our community struggling with a disability or illness should be denied representation to obtain their rightful Social Security benefits because they can’t afford help.
