Hi Community,
I’m celebrating Benefits Law Center’s 25th birthday, and my 15-year anniversary with the org. I’m happy to announce that the Justice Bus is back on the road and BLC has returned to full-time in office/field service delivery so that we can best meet clients where they are.
Moving forward, I’m stepping down from my position and will be supporting BLC and the Alliance from a different chair. Spending these years building integrity into government systems and holding government accountable to our clients is incredibly rewarding, and recruiting new folks into this community to be rowdy champions for our clients has been one of the best parts. Thanks for supporting the inclusion and growth of BLC in a diverse delivery system. It’s a community full of energy and working hard to breakdown its own barriers to become more accessible to neighbors who need to engage with justice and government systems. De-siloing this work to be in community with broader movements is critical. Being engaged in service in ways that are designed with and work for our clients is paramount to our success.
I’ll be serving in a new role to continue to work for health and wellness.
I’m headed to the WA AGO and will be working as an Assistant Attorney General on legacy pollution. My primary client will be the Department of Ecology and I will be advising on nuclear clean up, helping to draft climate change rules, and litigating cases. I’m looking forward to bringing all that I have learned from this community with me, and to continue being in relationship with you.
My last day is 4/29. The Board has been using the last six weeks to create a plan of stability for BLC, and will have an Interim Director in place upon my departure. The board will conduct a search for the next ED. More news to come from BLC.
