People who receive disability benefits from Social Security have their eligibility reviewed every 2-7 years. This process is called a Continuing Disability Review. If Social Security finds the person no longer eligible for benefits, that decision can be appealed. During COVID-19, some people have faced difficulty appealing notices in time for their benefits to continue while their appeal is considered. If that happens, benefits will stop and they will be without income. This may impact Medicaid or Medicare eligibility, too.
